"The 400 kV Substation at Penwortham, near Preston is the focal point of the National Grid Network for electricity supplies for Lancashire and beyond. It was first commissioned in the 1960 and has been modernised and extended over the ensuing years. It now consists of 21 switch bays, transformers and quad boosters."
