"Liquid crystal devices are familiar. Liquid crystals are however much more versatile and lend themselves to a wide range of applications. The presentation will begin with an introduction to the different types and phases of Liquid Crystals and some of the different optical effects that are available for exploitation. Though it is difficult to talk about liquid crystals without reference to displays, other applications will also be illustrated"
