"There is an urgent requirement to reduce our combustion of fossil fuels to cut emission of harmful greenhouse gases, however our dependence on these will continue for a very long time as we transition - a similar energy transition from coal took roughly a century. Our speaker will outline the technologies necessary to locate and develop oil/gas reserves and the essential role played by geoscientists in evaluating hydrocarbon discoveries, and reflect on the way forward to a low carbon world."
