"Mains electricity cannot be stored, so keeping the lights on and maintaining a stable electricity system is a continuous and challenging balancing act, making sure that, at all times, our consumptions are matched by generation. This balancing act will become harder as we replace our fossil fuelled generators, which we can control with precision, with variable and uncontrolled generation from free and inexhaustible renewable energy."
