"Angel Trains was created in 1994 as one of three rolling stock companies ("ROSCOs") in preparation for the privatisation of the rail industry. It now leases nearly 4500 vehicles with a value of nearly ���£3.5Bn to 20 operating companies. One of the companies working with Angel Trains, Chiltern Railways, wanted to run hybrid diesel and battery-powered trains to improve reliability and shorten journey times on routes."
