"Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) are now ubiquitous in modern control systems. Launched in 1968 with the development by Bedford Associates of the Modicon 084, they have over the last 50 years developed from a relay replacement tool to the powerful controllers of today. This talk outlines the start of that journey looking at the development of hardware, communication, the Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and languages."
