Research journals and conferences are replete with machine learning that involve ever greater varieties of neural architectures. Machines can synthesize speech, language, pictures to the point where serious ethical - even legal - issues arise. It is all very impressive, and on occasion perhaps unsettling. And yet AI struggles with art."
