Point to Point Microwave Radio Systems (Online) POSTPONED

Point to point microwave radio systems have been in operation since the 1940s however in todays world of fibre and satellite communications these fixed radio links often go unmentioned, despite their significant usage. This talk will explore the evolution of fixed radio links and how todays modern point to point microwave and millimetre wave radios provide cost-effective connectivity with capacities ranging from 100Mbps to 20Gbps.

Pathways to the Decarbonisation in Aviation

It is presently difficult to see how aviation will become completely de-carbonised on any sort of near-term timescale. However and as is often the case in engineering, there are likely to be a progression of small technology steps forward which will eventually realise a valuable overall benefit. Technologies yet to be identified are also likely to contribute to this.

Bentwaters Cold War Museum Visit

The museum is based in the former USAF hardened command post on the former Bentwaters Airfield, we believe that currently this is the only such building open regularly to the public in the UK and Europe. The main "war operations room" and "battle cabin" have been restored to original condition, the BT telephone exchange room, and decontamination showers and airlock are also as original. There are other exhibition rooms, covering the history of RAF Bentwaters from WW2 until the base closed.
