Modern Manufacturing Methods for construction in Infrastructure Deployment

This event explores how modern manufacturing methods are transforming the delivery of infrastructure and construction projects. Increasing pressure on cost, speed, quality, sustainability, and skills is driving a shift away from purely traditional construction approaches toward manufacturing-led models based on standardisation, modularity, and integrated supply chains.

Achieving reliable thickness measurement in a production environment

Target materials and production processes influence how product thickness is measured. Methods may involve setting roller gaps, adjusting extrusion dies, or monitoring poured and cured materials such as glass, rubber, or metal. Secondary processes can include layered or bonded materials like carbon fibre. Measurement challenges vary, from gaps and roller systems to free space or single-sided checks on transparent materials. This webinar from Micro-Epsilon UK will illustrate a range of measurement techniques for these challenges

Gaudi 100th anniversary: Visit and Engineering tour at the Sagrada Familia

A century ago, we lost Antoni Gaudi, the visionary mind behind Barcelona most iconic masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia. Today, his radical architecture lives on in every beam, curve, tower and stained-glass reflection thanks to the engineering efforts and innovation behind them. Join the IET Barcelona Local Network for a special commemorative engineering tour were the Head of Procurement and Construction Methods from Building Department, Mr Farras, will describe the challenges in the material procurement, with the processes in which shapes and towers are built into the original outlines described by Gaudi and the engineering challenges faced to complete this masterpiece. This is a unique opportunity to see the marvels of the Sagrada Familia, not only from the architectural insides but also from the engineering insights.
