Beyond the Schedule: Integrating Planning, Risk & Commercial Strategy for Successful Project Delivery

This session will explore how effective project delivery goes beyond producing a baseline schedule. Drawing on real project experience, the webinar will examine the integration between planning, risk management, cost control, and contract strategy. Attendees will gain practical techniques to strengthen forecasting reliability, manage uncertainty, and enhance decision-making at executive level.

When History Meets Biomechanics: The Slope-Walking Performance of Ancient Xiegong Clogs

This study unveils the biomechanical advantages of traditional Chinese Xiegong clogs. Research combining musculoskeletal simulation and experimental trials with healthy adults confirms that these ancient footwear designs, particularly with a single peg, significantly reduce metabolic cost and lower limb muscle activation during steep uphill and downhill walking. The findings validate historical claims and suggest modern biomechanical applications for ancient footwear principles.

Electromagnetic Metasurfaces and Antennas for Wireless and Sensing Applications across the EM Spectrum

Metasurfaces and antennas have emerged as powerful platforms for advancing wireless communications, sensing, and holographic display technologies across the electromagnetic spectrum. This talk will highlight recent developments and challenges in these areas, with a particular focus on open stopband issues in optical antenna designs. We will discuss the design and implementation of long-wave infrared (LWIR) metasurfaces and millimeter-wave (mmWave) metasurfaces featuring optical transparency and seamless thin-film integration. Special emphasis will be placed on enabling dynamic amplitude and phase tuning for next-generation reconfigurable systems in wireless, sensing, and holographic applications.

Military Communications in WWII

This talk will explore aspects of military communications during WW2, starting with the German use of radio to enable Blitzkrieg (lightning warfare) and then move on to review the value of radio interceptions to feed Bletchley Park with messages to decode. We will then then explore the communication required to support D-day and the Allied advance from the beachhead. The talk will also address Operation Market Garden and the challenges which poor radio communications presented and discuss the reasons for this. An underlying theme will be the role of the Royal Signals as the British Army' specialist communications branch
