Hosted by:
IET Brunei Darussalam
- About this event:
- As global energy frameworks shift toward decentralized renewables, engineering viable residential solar photovoltaic (PV) solutions requires a firm grasp of both technical design and market economics. This technical awareness talk introduces students and young engineers to the core engineering lifecycle of residential grid-connected solar PV systems. The session begins with the fundamental operating principles of solar cells and their seamless integration with the localized utility grid. Moving from theory to practical application, the presentation breaks down the engineering workflows for component selection, focusing heavily on matching PV array capacity with inverter specifications, calculating string sizing, and mitigating clipping or clipping losses. Finally, the discussion bridges engineering with finance, mapping out the economic drivers of solar adoption.
