Micro-Hydro Turbine - An impressive DIY project

Explore the potential of micro hydropower with a 9.5kw Turgo turbine, supplied by "Hydrover Turbines" in Wales, monitored by "Sustainable Control Systems" gear, and designed by Jamie Wallace of "Highland Eco Ltd." The groundwork used second-hand 300mm pipe from a local fish farm, and it has run flawlessly for 10 years.

Hydrogen and Wind - A perfect match?

Wind energy is highly variable, but a claim frequently made is that it is possible to turn a large wind turbine into a power source as reliable as a conventional power station by combining it with hydrogen generation. In this talk, we will consider if this is really possible and explain the compromises needed if we are to live in a world powered only by wind.

Autonomous Sailing Boats

An online event, Anahita Laverack will talk about how these vehicles can endure multi-month missions, and how their compact size makes deployment straightforward: a ten-strong constellation of C-Stars can be launched from a small fishing vessel. These robots allow users to harness the power of mass-deployed ocean sensor networks to unlock breakthrough insights in climate and weather research, industry operations, and marine domain awareness.

Optimizing Interface Management on Railway Projects

Rail projects involve diverse disciplines, each with interdependent interfaces. Poor Interface Management (IM) can lead to delays, cost overruns, safety risks, and inefficiencies, often caused by fragmented communication, design-execution misalignment, and reliance on outdated methods. This presentation will explore how proactive IM strategies and emerging digital solutions can optimize both functional and non-functional interfaces, improving coordination and reducing project risks.
